So, what does wellness mean exactly?
The answer is…it depends. Wellness is one of those things that means something different to each person. And pursuing wellness comes in many different stages. You may be at the beginning of your wellness pursuit, or you may be someone who has incorporated different forms of wellness in your life for many years.
I feel I am at the beginning of my personal wellness journey. I have certainly dabbled with various aspects over the years but have never truly made it a priority. This is proof that it’s never too late to make that shift. While I have a long way to go to get to the “wellness” place that I’d like to be, I am excited about the fact that I am finally making the effort to incorporate this into my life. Here are some ways to begin.
In what ways can you focus on your wellness?
It might mean eating healthier. You could exercise more or work on having a more active lifestyle. It might mean incorporating meditation, positivity, or gratitude into one’s life. It might mean implementing self-care activities like massages, acupuncture, or relaxation.

THE TRUTH IS, IT’S ALL THESE THINGS!
As with many people, wellness and self-care have been lacking in my life. I spend a lot of time taking care of others, but not myself. But now I’m making that a priority and so should you. As they say, you have to take care of yourself so that you can do all you need to do for others. One of the self-care activities I struggle with most is meditation. It is almost impossible for me to quiet my mind long enough to meditate.
But honestly, everything I have read on the subject says that the key is to just keep practicing. It’s like a muscle you need to train to achieve the results you are looking for. Check out my free “Meditation Resources” handout. It will give you lots of options on where to get started. Meditation is really a cornerstone of wellness and self-care. The act of bringing calm and quiet to your brain and your being each day will help all the other pieces come together and accelerate the journey to your better self.
